Samreen Akhtar – Barrister

I am a barrister specialising in crime and currently practise on the North Eastern Circuit. I am instructed on a wide range of criminal law matters including sexual offences, violent offences and drugs.

I was the youngest barrister on the Midlands Circuit at the time that I completed my pupillage but a desire to move closer to home meant that I relocated to West Yorkshire.

This year, I was appointed as a Social Mobility Advocate by the Bar Council and featured in the Asian Express newspaper due to this role. I am also a part of the North Eastern Circuit’s “Diversity Outreach Programme” and hope that my role as a Bradford City Champion will enable me to inspire, support and guide those wishing to pursue a career at the Bar.
