Jayne Maiden – Chief Inspector
Chief Inspector West Yorkshire Police
I am delighted to be a Chief Inspector in West Yorkshire Police. I am currently the Operational Training lead for Driver Training and Specialist Operations and working towards completion of a portfolio as a Tactical Firearms Commander.
I left school after completing my GCSE’s and began full time employment in the private sector, whilst volunteering as a Special Constable in West Yorkshire Police.

I joined West Yorkshire Police in Oct 2000 posted to Bradford District. I spent 5 years in uniform before moving to Specialist Crime as an accredited Detective Constable. I was promoted to Sergeant, having undertaken roles in Custody, Neighbourhoods and patrol and as a Detective Sergeant and Detective Inspector both in Safeguarding (Child Protection) and Homicide & Major Enquiry Team.
I was both Nationally and Regionally trained as a Hostage Crisis Negotiator, dealing with numerous suicide interventions, kidnaps, and criminal/domestic sieges. I am a PEER Supporter, Coach & Mentor. My core values are fairness, respect, honesty, open mindedness, with courage to do the right thing. Personal attributes that best represent me are authenticity, selflessness, empathy, and commitment to Public Service.
I am passionate about people. My leadership style is centred around a positive approach, inspiring and instilling confidence in others to achieve their full potential. Passionate about the service we provide to the public. I want to ensure this is delivered with care and compassion & that staff have the right skills and capabilities to provide the best service possible.
My husband is a serving police officer within Roads Policing. We have a young daughter and a beautiful Golden Retriever! In my free time I am a keen Rugby League fan.
