David Crossley – General Manager
General Manager, Midland Hotel, Peel Hotels
I grew up in Sheffield and after leaving school with No qualifications went to catering college at Castle College. I decided after the first-year, college was not for me and got myself a job at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Sheffield as a Room Service Waiter. I spent the next 7 years there working in many departments in the hotel. I soon realised that I was best suited to front of house and over the 7 years I worked my way up to Food and Beverage Manager. After 7 years I moved to Halifax and then onto Bradford in 1998 as assistant banqueting Manager at the Midland Hotel, where I soon moved up the ranks to Food and Beverage Manager and then Deputy Manager.
In 2008 I was offered the General Managers Role in Carlisle. I spent 10 years turning the Hotel into a very profitable hotel, after 10 years I was asked to go back to Bradford to run the Midland Hotel. I am a very hands-on manager and l am seen on the shop floor helping where needed. I get the most enjoyment out of my Job role in helping to nurture young people in their careers. It’s great to get people thanking me for helping them with their careers.
