David Coupe – Senior Partner
Born in the early 60’s into the mining area of Wigan in Lancashire. Formative years in Cheshire, educated at the local comprehensive school, university at Manchester studying law, Law College in Chester, and legal trainee in London.
Qualified as a solicitor in 1986, became a partner between 1993 and 2012 with two large city law firms, and formed his own firm EC3 Legal LLP in 2012 where he remains senior partner. He deals with all forms of corporate, finance, insurance and employment issues.
David is on various UK Regulatory Panels for financial services, and is legal adviser to 150 entities through his role with a UK insurance trade association.
David is a trustee of two charities, and actively supports another 13 each year.
He has, amongst other things, run 26 marathons, climbed Kilimanjaro, and cycled from Lands End to John O Groats – for charity – raising some £40,000 over the years.
He coaches, manages and plays in various hockey and cricket teams – and is a low handicap golfer. He has particularly been involved in youth development in the Eastern Hockey leagues with players going on to represent England. Most of these occurred after becoming partially sighted in 1992.
He listens to all forms of music – but can’t play a note on any instrument!! And even donkeys have more tune to their braying than David’s singing.
