Lucy Leadbeater – Superintendent Partnerships Bradford Police
West Yorkshire Police, Bradford Police SLTBeing a passionate watcher of "The Bill" as a kid, Lucy had a lifelong interest in law enforcement. After attaining a degree from Nottingham University, she was inspired to join West Yorkshire Police at the age of 21.In 2018, She held a Partnership position at Safer Leeds, where she led a team of forty-five officers, including Youth Justice Officers, Safer Schools Officers, and Strategic Engagement Officers. This position gave her first true understanding of strategic partnership working, and it ignited a passion for figuring out how to effectively work with kids and teens to keep them out of the criminal justice system and ensure they achieve full life potential. She has personally seen the devastating effects of several high-profile offenses involving children and young adults can have on all parties involved, their friends, family, and the larger community. In Leeds, she remained an Inspector until being promoted to CI Operations. The Tactical Firearms Commander's Course, which she finished during this period, enabled to fill in as the force's Critical Incident Manager (CIM), a role that she frequently serves on the resilience rota. After several young adults and children were tragically killed by knife crime, she then was transferred to Chief Inspector Partnerships, overseeing the partnership response to Serious Youth Violence, which resulted in the creation of Project Shield, an initiative that was created in collaboration with Leeds youth and young adults with an emphasis on prevention, early intervention, and diversion from crime. There have been come fantastic outcomes, and there was a big decrease in youth-related serious violence. She is thrilled to be promoted to Bradford in 2024 as Superintendent Partnerships after 21 years of police Leeds. There has been a steep learning curve to get to know the district and both internal and external colleagues, and every day is a school day. She is looking forward to working with all of you and is thoroughly enjoying this new challenge. She has worked in a variety of positions throughout her career, such as frontline 999 patrol, neighbourhood policing, and suspect management, which required to operate police vehicles and respond to a wide range of incidents.Outside of policing, she's proud mum to twin girls who, as teenagers bring their own challenges! Lucy is keen Leeds United supporter (sorry to any Bradford City fans!) and can be regularly seen at Elland Road cheering the team on. Sectors worked in and routes taken: Â Â Â
