Firzana Ahmed QPM – Retired Police Officer
My parents came to Britain in 1966 and settled in Leeds where I grew up. Born the middle one of seven children, I've always been considered the peacemaker in the family. I enjoyed school but didn’t excel in my educational studies. At 22 I joined the police, and served as a PC for 30 years in the community. Beat officer, acquisitive crime detection, youth engagement, schools officer, women’s engagement. In 2019 I was recognised in the Queen's birthday honours with the Queens Police Medal.  Since retirement, at 52, I have been actively engaging in community initiatives with a focus on health and wellbeing. Sectors worked in and routes taken: Beat Officer Acquisitive Crime Youth Liaison Schools Officer Women’s Engagement
