Alina Khan – Vice Principal

Vice Principal, EDI, Bradford CollegeI joined Bradford College in January 2022 as Vice Principal for EDI, making history as the first executive in Further Education dedicated to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion. My unique role aims to dismantle barriers, helping every student and staff member reach their full potential.My career started as a secondary ICT teacher in 2004, and then moved to Bradford's Local Authority, advising on Diversity and Inclusion within Children’s Services. I moved onto managing the Education Safeguarding team until 2019 where I had strategic responsibility for this area. I later served as Head of Diversity and Inclusion at the Yorkshire Ambulance Service from January 2021 to January 2022.I was born and raised in Bradford, and I’m a single mother of three. I studied at Bradford College in 1999 before earning a degree in ICT from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2003. I returned to Bradford College for a postgraduate certificate in education, driven by my passion for impacting young lives in her community.I’m grateful for my role at Bradford College, and feel privileged to be able contribute positively to my community. My passion is challenging injustice and removing barriers for students and staff. EDI as a fundamental aspect of the college's culture, enriching the diverse community we serve.It was a huge honour to be awarded the Noor Inayat British Muslim Woman of the Year at the British Muslim Awards 2024.
