HH Judge Clews – Circuit Judge

Circuit Judge (Crown Courts)I was appointed a District Judge (Magistrates Courts) in March 2016 and a Circuit Judge sitting in the Crown Court in November 2024. Both of my parents were teachers and no-one in the family had ever been involved in the law. I went to Kingston University and was called to the Bar in 1986. I did my pupillage in London before moving to Leeds chambers in December 1987 where I practised in criminal law until being appointed a judge in March 2016   Sectors worked in and routes taken: 1987-2016   I was in self-employed private practice throughout my career as a barrister 2016-  Employed as a Judge by the Ministry of Justice
